[ mood | crazy ]

Hey! I'm new to this so i decided to introduce myself. I'm not sure if anyone here introduces themselves but i will anyway.

Location: Ohio
Age:19
Clothing Size: 12/24
Height: 5'4
Weight:280

I'm obviously a big girl and have recently been trying to lose weight but i suppose looking fashionably good while dieting isn't a bad thing. I've gone done from 355 pounds and still moving along. Hope to get to know some of you! =)

I have a few yards of this denim and want to make a skirt out of it, but can't find any of the commercial patterns in my size in fabric stores here. Would anyone happen to know where I can find an ankle-length (or nearly, or could feasibly/easily be lengthened) skirt pattern for size 30-32 that isn't a plain a-line or circle?

How do Old Navy Jeans fit? [24 Apr 2009|07:58pm]

rebel31_55
Hello!

I am a size 28. I was wondering if anyone has worn jeans from Old Navy Plus Size selection? I am looking at their website and thinking about buying new jean capris, but I wanted to see if their sized run larger than usual or smaller than usual. For example, when I wear the brand Zana-Di I usually fit into a 26 comfortably, but when I wear a Lane Bryant 28 they feel snug.

Imput is much needed!!!

Thank you!

Stockings and garters - HELP! [22 Oct 2008|09:33pm]
ex_amorette
Hi!

I'm hoping someone could help me...
I'm trying to find a black or pink garter belt that has hooks in the back so it can be sized a little.

I need it to be wearable - meaning, no thin little ribbons and fluffy bows and such and I'd like the 'buckles' on the strips that hold up the stocks to be metal and sturdy, if possible.

My skirt size is a 16 or an 18... but the garter I have from 'Lady Grace' says a 44 (it sits on my hips though, so I guess that's normal?).

If anyone knows a place online where this could be found, that would be awesome. It would be doubly awesome if the place that had the garter belt ALSO had a pair of nude, back seam stockings.

I've found one at HipsandCurves.com, but their sturdiest looking garter belt doesn't have clasps... they would be last resort though, if all else fails.

Thank you in advance!

Hello? [13 Oct 2008|10:38pm]

No one has posted in here for awhile, but I have a question. So wake up! Haha.

I like cardigans. V-neck, round neck, buttons, snaps. As long as there are buttons from top to bottom (none of those one button at the top, or a tie in the middle dealies) and it doesn't stop at my boobs, I like it. However, I cannot find such a thing at the moment. Torrid has a few cute ones, but they are very expensive. As an avid Torrid shopper, I know they are definitely not worth the money they want for them! (54 dollars for this?! And the plain colored ones are $44! Cute, but no thanks.) I live in Wisconsin. It is cold October to April, indoors and out. I could just wear a hooded sweatshirt, but that's a big young for me, as well as a little sloppy. Anybody know where I can find anything? Thank yoooou!

[ mood | fingers crossed ]

Oh, I do hope you can help me. I desperately need some help in finding a new bra store. I am now bigger than anything the local Petticoat Faire carries. Does anyone know of any place that makes custom bras or has larger sizes then G's in Texas? I'm in Austin but I'm desperate & willing to drive anywhere!

Plus size Bikinis! [17 Jun 2008|03:18pm]

Anyone looking for a bikini this summer?

I don't know if anyone posted this site before, but...

Love Your Peaches

I've recently shrunk out of my bikini (love that thing!) and I wanted to get a new one for this summer...
I'm thinking about getting Halter style top with tie or Modified Marilyn Halter Top with a Skirted Thong Bottom

I'm thinking black top, black thong, with the sheer black skirt.

I know someone who bought from this company, and the bathing suit was well made, so this company is reputable.

And what does everyone think of Sizeappeal.com? Do their sizes run big? Small?

Just sharing some sites... [26 Apr 2008|08:13pm]

lunar_phoenix
Hello, All!
It's been a while since I visited, but I was thinking about swim-wear for this summer (it was 88°F here today!) and thought I might share some sites.
You might have heard of them, but they do make for a change from Lane Bryant, Avenue, and Torrid (the only three plus size stores I have near me).

Big on Batik has sarongs in plus sizes (Yes, now you can wear it crossed over and tied behind your neck without choking!)
And they have really cute smock tops. I have the sun print one and I get compliments on it all the time.
They also have bikini tops! Not too many this season, but they do have a variety of colors...
Look around and see what you can find.

BBW Boutique has some hits and some misses. But I got the princess stretch Denim and lace mini skirt last summer, and I adore it!

I don't know about you guys, but I can't wait to get my bikini on and head out to the pool, beach, and the lake!

Love your body!

Shapewear for plus sizes [24 Apr 2008|02:26pm]

iwasntlistening
I love to wear shapewear to just smooth out my  bulges and to give me better posture (plus I like the secure feeling + not having muffin top).

But I have always had problems finding an actual store that carries plus size shapewear to try on before I buy. Even if I do find a store that carries them it always goes by bra size which usually means that the rest is to tight or my breasts are smushed/sagging.

I am looking for something that I can wear my own bra with like this.

http://www2.jcpenney.com/jcp/X6.aspx?DeptID=50475&CatID=51886&GrpTyp=PRD&ItemID=13e1ee4&attrtype=&attrvalue=&CmCatId=50475|51209|51886

Does anyone have experience with this type?

I have tried Spanx and the like but they wind up rolling down to my waist the second I sit down. I am also not looking for corsets or anything that will take two people to get me in to.

Location: Long Island, NY
Clothing Size: 18\20
Bra Size: 42B
Height: 5'4
Weight: 239

If you do recommend a website please let me know what your experience with the sizing is.

Thanks!

Right Fit Jeans [31 Mar 2008|09:04pm]

hercurvestofear
[ mood | annoyed ]

Is anyone else annoyed with Lane Bryant's new line of jeans? I can't seem to find a single pair that actually do fit me right, despite their claims. Its even more frustrating to me because previously I could always find jeans there that fit me perfectly! Now I can't find jeans that fit right -anywhere-. And I'm a jeans and t-shirt kind of girl, so this is distressing.

Just wondering if anyone else had the same problem. When I was in the store the associate fitting me kept trying to make me get these jeans that were way too tight at the waist just cause they fit my legs perfect. I'd rather have baggy legs as opposed to a muffin top no t-shirt could hide.

[ mood | embarrassed ]

Hey all. Im a chubby butt with really abnormal measurements. I recently had a breast reduction surgery and im having an impossible time finding ANYTHING...Its worse now than it was BEFORE the surgery. Im a DD/E and 54 around.

I not only need a "real" bra (and I say that in quotes because i've only ever had the disgustingly ugly walmart stuff that comes balled up in a box...or the surgery bra they gave me after the procedure) but I need to find a bathing suit too. Moving to Florida soon and we'll be an hour away from the beach. I dont care what it looks like, I just need to FIND one that doesnt cost $10 per square inch of fabric. I need walmart prices without the walmart sizes. Sad but true. The bra part isnt as important right now, as I have a smaller one i've been using extenders on but still..T'would be nice to have one that looks nice from the back too, yanno?

Also, does anybody have any suggestions on how to de-pudgify an existing suit? I have one, its old and stretched out, but still a BIT too small..I was thinking of making a little spandex skirt to sew onto the waist to hide the leg holes cutting into my legs x_x Good idea? bad idea?

If anybody has any other ideas to make an old ugly swimsuit less ugly i'd love to hear it...

I'd say this is designing on a dime, but I dont even have THAT much to work with...So..yeah. Any help, suggestions or ideas would be amazing.

Hi, I'm Linnea. I'm applying to a sign language (ASL) interpreting program this spring. How it works is that I go to a screening weekend, where all my personal attributes (and my signing skill) are judged. If I'm accepted into the program, it's then 2 years of training and practicums, then out into the working world.

Since interpreting is done in a variety of different situations, there's no one particular dress code, but there are a few rules of thumb. These are:
No loud patterns, and avoid patterns if at all possible
Wear a colour that contrasts with your skin colour to make it easy to see your hands (For me, this would be black or a variation thereof. When working with a Deaf consumer with low vision, you can't wear the 'variation thereof.')
Minimal jewellery (basically, no necklaces or bracelets in case they get caught, conservative rings that aren't distracting.)
Cleavage is probably a bad idea too, because that would be distracting.

So my questions are:
1) The screening weekend is 2 days long. Day 1 we are told to make a good first impression, and dress like we are going to a job interview. Day 2 we are told to dress more casually, but still not in jeans and sneakers. What should I wear?
2) How do I wear primarily black for the practicums and work without looking like I'm heading for a funeral? I was thinking a black suit with various coloured shirts underneath, but in some situations, I'll need to wear all black.
3) Where can I get these? I'm a size 20-22 and I live in Vancouver, BC, Canada.

Thank you!

Hey ladies :) I'm a bigger girl (about 5'2", 215 lbs) and I know it's hard to find cuter styles for bigger girls. I love the indie/vintage style that's currently pretty popular, but it seems like stores that carry clothes in that style (Urban Outfitters, Forever21, H&M, etc) cater to smaller sizes... as do most other places. So, does anyone know where to find cute clothes in that style for bigger girls? Thanks :)

Wide Calf boots [18 Feb 2008|01:06pm]

naughty_devil
Hey All!

I've been hoping to get my hands on a pair of size 9-10 wide calf knee high boots, preferably not insulated (ie meant for summer wear) - color I'd prefer is black.

I've tried on ebay and there's not very many black ones with wide calf. I've also looked at stores online and they run as much as 300.00 dollars...ouch...not very good for a student's pocket book haha

Any ideas?

Thanks

WHAT THE F$&*!!!!!!! [07 Feb 2008|11:24am]

[ mood | pissed off ]

Shamelessly yanked from a friend's journal but I felt the widest dissemination possible was necessary.

Someone proposed a law that would fine restaraunts for serving obese people. I kid you not ladies ad gentlemen. Mississippi wants to "draw attention" the problem with obesity in our dear country and feel that fining restaraunts that serve them is the proper way to do so. Many of you happy idealists would think that a law like that is unconstitutional, guess again. The law wouldn't fail on discrimination grounds because obese people are not a discrete and insular minority any more than gays and lesbians are. It is OK to discriminate against people who are considered obese (and I will rant about that particular label in a secondary post).

What disturbs me is that this wasn't legislation aimed at health care issues or the FDA for allowing additives in food known to cause pancreatic problems (which mess with hunger urges) or anything else even remotely close to a preventative measure. No, this was deliberately aimed at shaming fat people into not going out to eat in public. This was aimed directly at businesses that would have no choice but to shame fat people in order to stay in business. It is about the national stigma concerning people who don't fit some magazine glossy norm. Never mind that the people in those magazines don't look like that either (thank you airbrush).

I think I am going to be so fantastically sick it isn't even funny. I cannot even put together a proper rant. I have some legal research to do.

Here is the article if you want to read it:

Hello~ [01 Feb 2008|07:46am]

[ mood | hopeful ]

Hi... I just joined this community~ I hope that I can make friends here, and learn more about fashion. The reason I'm posting here is because I'm ready to start changing the way I dress... I usually dress very casually, but I want to be more cute!! I'm trying to lose weight (for myself) mainly because I want to wear cuter clothes.... but, if I wait, I might not be as motivated to lose weight. Anyways, I'm about 5'6" - 5'7", and I weigh around 200lbs... my pant size is around 14-15, and I usually have to wear XL or XL1 for shirts... This is me...

Basically, I want to hear what you guys think about what would look good with my body type, and my face... I'm not very confident in my appearance, so that's why I'm looking for help. Also, I live in Canada, so if you happen to live in Canada too, please let me know any great (and cheap) places to shop~ Thank you for your help~
